Footage and Reports Belong Together
When an incident occurs, the written report tells one part of the story. Video footage tells the rest. But in most security operations, reports live in one system (or on paper) and footage lives on SD cards, hard drives, or cloud storage with no connection between them.
TacDesk’s new video footage feature connects these two elements, creating complete evidence packages that are easy to manage and share.
How It Works
Guards and managers can upload video footage directly through TacDesk:
- Body-worn camera clips — upload from the guard’s phone or transferred from the camera device
- CCTV excerpts — upload relevant clips from site camera systems
- Phone recordings — video captured directly on the guard’s smartphone
Each upload is tagged with metadata — who uploaded it, when, from which site, and optionally linked to a specific incident report.
Linking Footage to Incidents
The real value is the link between footage and reports. When reviewing an incident report, managers can see all associated footage alongside the written account. When sharing evidence with police or insurers, the report and footage are presented together as a cohesive package.
Storage and Access Control
Video footage is stored securely with role-based access controls:
- Guards can upload footage but can only view their own uploads
- Managers can view all footage across their sites
- Client portal users can view footage shared with them
- Third-party access links can include specific footage items
Large File Support
Security footage files can be large. TacDesk handles chunked uploads so that large video files transfer reliably even on mobile connections. There’s no need to compress footage before uploading.
GDPR Considerations
Video footage containing identifiable individuals is personal data under UK GDPR. TacDesk’s access controls, audit trails, and retention management support your compliance obligations. You maintain control over who can access footage and can demonstrate that access through the system’s logs.
Video footage management is available on TacDesk Professional and Enterprise plans. Try the demo to see how footage links to reports.
