A guard doesn't show up for a shift and the first anyone hears about it is the client, the next morning, asking why the site was empty overnight.
What most firms do today
A phone call at the start of the shift to confirm someone's on site, and then silence until the next call — or until something goes wrong. If a guard doesn't turn up, or leaves early, the gap sits there unnoticed until a client, not the security company, finds it.
How TacDesk does it
Every guard's phone reports its position while they're clocked in, and the map updates as they move. You see who's on site, who's between sites, and — the useful bit — where a site should have someone and doesn't.
This is the passive view: a live map of where your workforce actually is, built on the same GPS-verified clock-in every guard already does. It's not the dispatcher's assignment console — for actively dispatching the nearest guard to an incident from the map, that's Dispatcher Mode, a separate add-on. This is simpler than that: a map that tells you the truth about coverage, all the time, with nothing extra to set up.
A gap in cover shows up as a gap in cover — an empty pin where a shift should be — while there's still time to call someone in, rather than as a complaint the next day.
Why it matters
You find out before the client does. A no-show or an early leaver shows up on the map in real time, not in a phone call from an unhappy client the following morning.
It backs up what you tell clients. When a client asks whether their site was covered on Tuesday night, the answer isn't "I'll check with the guard" — it's a map with a timestamp.
It's the record ACS assessors ask about. Deployment that's visible and logged as it happens is exactly the evidence "controlled and recorded" audits look for.
