New Feature: Holiday Management for Security Teams
TacDesk now includes holiday management — guards request time off through the app, managers approve or decline, and allowances are tracked automatically.

Holiday Admin Shouldn’t Be This Hard
For ACS compliance, this is important. Managing holiday requests for a team of security guards is surprisingly complicated. You need to track each guard’s entitlement, ensure you don’t approve overlapping leave that leaves sites uncovered, and maintain records for employment law compliance. Many security companies still manage this via spreadsheets, email, or even handwritten notes.
TacDesk’s new holiday management feature brings this process into the same platform where you manage everything else.
How It Works
For Guards
Guards submit holiday requests directly through the TacDesk app:
- Select the dates they want off
- See their remaining allowance before submitting
- Add a note if needed
- Receive a notification when the request is approved or declined
No more filling in paper forms or sending WhatsApp messages that get buried in group chats.
For Managers
Holiday requests appear on the management dashboard for review. When assessing a request, managers can see:
- The guard’s remaining allowance
- Who else is already off during those dates
- Which sites might be affected
- The guard’s recent holiday history
Approve or decline with one click, with an optional reason for declines.
Allowance Tracking
Each guard’s holiday allowance is set at the start of their holiday year. As requests are approved and taken, the balance updates automatically. Managers can view a summary of all guards’ allowances, taken holidays, and remaining balances at any time.
Why This Matters
Beyond the obvious admin time savings, proper holiday management protects your business:
- Legal compliance — the Working Time Regulations entitle workers to 5.6 weeks of paid holiday. You need records proving you’re providing this.
- Coverage planning — knowing who’s off in advance lets you plan shift cover without scrambling
- Guard satisfaction — a fair, transparent process for handling holiday requests improves morale
- Dispute prevention — digital records of requests, approvals, and balances prevent disagreements
Holiday management is available on all TacDesk plans. Try the demo to see how it works.
